David Segel is the founder of the Mako Group. David serves the company and its network of businesses with guidance on strategic initiatives, major partnerships and developing new assets. David also operates a family office, SGL, as the platform for overseeing a business portfolio in entertainment, tech and media activities, as well as philanthropy. He is a Co-Founder and Chairman of the independent motion picture producer Mpower Pictures and co-creator of Video Genome Project, the world’s largest and most granular database of video metadata, acquired by Hulu in 2016. He is also a strategic partner for Mishon, a social media app for adventurers. David is an avid outdoorsman and a competitive sailor in Nautor Swan class. He's a qualified airplane pilot and operates primarily bush planes and warbirds. He has explored much of the un-visited world, including a trip on skis to the true north pole in 2004, and a shorthanded journey on a Rigid Inflatable Boat through the North West Passage from Greenland to upper Alaska in 2010.
