Infrastructure team is responsible for the global Linux and networks footprint
of Mako, including all co-located, low latency trading servers, core compute,
workstation, developer and simulation environments, connectivity and
switching/routing. The team is comprised of a number of individuals ranging in
experience and together forms a tight knit group operating together at a
global level to deliver a reliable, scalable, cost effective and highly
performant platform used by Mako’s trading, quant, developer and support
teams.</p> <p>The Junior Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with all
members of the Mako Infrastructure team globally, as well as experienced team
members in the Sydney office to manage, support and extend Mako’s global
trading environment.</p> <p>Do you have an ambition to work with a highly

platform engineering including kernel internals, building resilient systems,
scripting, automation and deep dive problem solving through the entire

and can trace a packet all the way from source sender, through the network,
into the Linux networking stack and through to userland?</p> <p>Do you have
experience in or want to grow your exposure to at-scale routing, switching and
firewalls?</p> <p>Do you take complete responsibility for your tasks and see
them through to conclusion, asking for help where needed?</p> <p>Do you want
to get exposed to a global derivatives trading companies systems stack
including ultra low latency and high availability?</p> <p>Do you love
scripting and automation and aspire to automate what you can?</p>

<li>Supporting a real-time, latency-sensitive trading operation spread across
global co-location facilities with a high degree of reliability</li>
<li>Troubleshooting and solving faults in both hardware, software, Linux and
networking.</li> <li>Planning and engineering for
capacity, disaster recovery, business
continuity, and high availability</li> <li>Supporting core trading
and business software deployed on Linux</li> <li>Driving the automation and
efficiency of all things Linux at Mako</li> <li>Specifying, configuring,
implementing and upgrading network devices</li> </ul> <p> </p>
<p><strong>What we need from you:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A love of problem
solving and troubleshooting</li> <li>A desire to grow your technical skills
and dig deep into Linux and network internals</li> <li>You love
learning the details and minutiae of
systems engineering in a multi-vendor and multi-
discipline environment</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication
skills</li> <li>A passion for automating processes and using an
infrastructure-as-code mind-set</li> <li>An open-minded and innovative
approach and a desire to take initiative</li> <li>2+ years’ experience working
as an engineer in an enterprise environment</li> <li>Exposure to Linux
systems, systems administration, automation and configuration</li>
<li>Experience with networking equipment as well as routing and switching
protocols and functions</li> <li>Knowledge of network protocols such as
TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.</li> <li>Experience with and a love of at least 1
scripting language for complex tasks (python/bash preferred)</li>
<li>Experience with financial, trading or low-latency environments is
advantageous but not a requirement</li> <li>Hands on experience working in
