Quentin Baker became the Head of Mako Financial Markets (MFM), in 2019. He has been with MFM since the entity’s inception in 2001, transferring over from Mako’s European Long End FI market-making desk where he worked for 1 year prior to that. Over the last 18 years he has worked extensively in the listed fixed income & rates derivatives markets, during which time MFM have often been the number one desk (in terms of volume) on Eurex for Bund, Bobl & Schatz Options trading. The team pride themselves on their ‘value added’ service, of which Quentin contributes a heavily sought after ‘Daily Technical Report’ on European & US Futures markets. Quentin has been interviewed on CNBC over one hundred times, giving regular ‘market update’ summaries, and once ran a 6 week educational series promoting the use of listed Options. He remains as enthusiastic about financial markets today as he did when he started his career in the City of London at Hen Yep investments in 1999. When his back allows, Quentin remains an avid endurance athlete, having completed two full ironman triathlons, 10 marathons, and in 2010 cycled the Tour de France route two weeks ahead of the professional race. In 2016 he represented Great Britain in the 40-45 year old age-group category for the ITU World Championships held in Rotterdam.
